Garden Kitty's Big Adventure

Well, here's the big story you've been waiting on edge for! Garden Kitty's big trip to Carmel, IN and the cat dentist. We all survived it. That's good. She actually did better than we expected considering the unworldly kitty has been nowhere except to the vet in Jeffersonville a couple of times each year.

On the way up, Tim sat in the backseat with her and kept her carrier door open so she could come out if she wanted. She only screamed on the way out of New Albany and then she was fine. We made a stop at a couple of antique malls on the way with one of us staying in the car with GK. We traded out at Southport and Tim drove us into Indy.

The cat dentist was really nice and knowledgable and his assistant Jill was just super. They kept us posted after xrays and the procedure. She only ended up losing her other bottom canine instead of the top two canines. He said we'd be really proactive at this point if we yanked them. Fine with me, it saved money!

Verdict was that she definitely has this tooth disease that causes resorption where they sort of disintegrate from the inside out.

So, while poor kitty was in surgery, we killed the hours shopping. We hit two scrapbook stores and the quaint little downtown area in Noblesville. Had a great lunch at a little shop/cafe that was recommended to us at an antique mall. Yummy salad and potato soup.

GK's body temp dropped some while she was under so they put her in an incubator for awhile and apparently that was quite the treat! They said she was all stretched out and kneading....now all she wants for Christmas is an incubator!

The trip back was long and tiring and she stayed curled up in my lap on a blanket most of the trip home while Tim drove.

We've decided that I-465 stinks, especially when you are told "get off on I-465 North and it doesn't exist off of 1-65. We were given the options of East or West and of course we chose the wrong one. But other than getting lost several times (but, hey one time we got to see the multi million dollar mansions in Carmel, so that was cool) and the trip being long, grueling and expensive, I guess it really could have been worse!

Our kitty looks silly with no bottom fangs but, sorry, we can't afford to get you dentures.

Know any good dog dentists? I dread that my dogs teeth need work. I dont think an incubator will do the trick with her. Maybe one of those big lion tranquilizers they use at the zoo...
