My Husband Said I Could Have An Encyclopedia For Dinner
Of course there's a story behind this! Tim took the week off still trying to use up all his vacation time before the end of the year (what a problem to have!) and so I managed to free up the day so we could spend it together. We got a bit of a late start so decided not to go to the Coca Cola Museum in Etown which sounded good early on! Instead, we ate at Kaelin's (birthplace of the cheeseburger in 1934) which I had always wanted to go to! It was very good and I loved their old neon sign! Ended up interviewing the manager for a future article for Vintage Indie!
After lunch we went thrifting! I found two sets of old encylopedias for a whopping $3.83 each set! How could one pass that by? Well, this one couldn't. Tim came wandering down the aisle as I was loading the cart full! He's such a good sport although he knew it meant more lugging to the basement later. Of course, someday I will go through them and make up ephemera packs for my etsy shop but until then, they will join the many other encyclopedias that have been accumulating!
Hit several thrift stores and two little antique shops on Bardstown Rd. One had books on sale and I found some treasures there!
On the way home, I asked Tim what he was going to fix me for supper (he doesn't cook) and he said I had to eat (at this point I interrupted him and said something in the freezer, our standing joke) and he said no, encylopedias!!!!! So, I said which volume and he responded, F for Food.
Ha ha ha.

Neighborhood Picnic
Well, we finally got to have our neighborhood picnic yesterday! It was a beautiful, sunny fall day and much better than the original day (when the remnants of Hurricane Ike decided to sweep through Southern Indiana!). We ate outside at a local B&B and there were lots of potluck dishes to choose from. Great music by one of our talented neighbors provided entertainment for almost 2 hours!

Was This Really Just A Week Ago?
So, this time last week I had already driven to the Cincinnati airport and back to retrieve my godsister. Never mind it was the wrong airport on the wrong day from the original plan! Gotta love the airlines! She was supposed to fly from Newport News, VA to Louisville, KY last Thurs night. She was delayed two hours and they assured her that she would miss her connection in Atlanta which was also the last flight out to L'ville that night. However, they could not assure her that they could get her a hotel room in Atlanta. So they rebooked her out of Richmond (an hour taxi ride at $110-Delta ate that) the next morning. All was going well. She called and said she was in Richmond and the flight was on time. About a half an hour later she called back and said there was a 2 hr delay again! It eventually turned into a 6 hour delay! She would again miss her connection through Cincy this time. They finally rebooked her on a later flight. Meanwhile, I got in the car and headed to Cincy to just meet her there as they still couldn't guarantee that she could get to L'ville because she would be standby!
So, while my poor godsister was dealing with this again for the second time, to include multiple flight changes, starvation, mechanical delays and scares, aggravation, etc, I had a lovely drive to Florence, KY, hit a scrapbook store, Hobby Lobby, Dollar Tree, an antique mall and had a lovely lunch at a yummy Mexican restaurant!
She finally ended up on the original flight/plane that had been delayed 6 hrs and at 6:28 she arrived in Cincy. Back home we went.
After the initial drama of getting her here we had a blast! Went down to Harvest Homecoming for lunch Sat and Sun. Went to Dees and Archivers Sat and stayed at Archivers for their Scrap Mania. Scrapped a bunch at my house too and hit Hobby Lobby, had a yummy lunch at the Cheddar Box, enjoyed the fun Halloween decorations up and down my street and just enjoyed being together! It of course went by way too fast and we only hoped and prayed that she wouldn't have as much trouble getting home as she did coming out! Well, the plane was at the gate at both airports and she breezed in with no problems!
So, it's hard to believe that one week ago we were sitting in my den with four days ahead of us and now it seems like months ago!

Indianapolis Antique Advertising Show
The very next day upon our return home from our trip we got up early (ugh) and went to Indy! We just love this show and try not to ever miss it! We saw several dealer friends there and visited with them in addition to shopping and looking. Found a few more goodies here and then went to the Stewart's Flea Market in another building where we found some more things especially for my etsy shop!
