Does This Chick Really Exist?

I just listed this vintage card in my etsy shop! I had to laugh the first time I read it though! Sounds like the perfect woman for sure!

And This Is What It Looked Like By Noon

At least it's finally stopped snowing for now! I just shoveled off half the steps outside, boy was it deep!

Another 3-5 inches of snow today after 3/4" of ice overnight. There are currently 200,000 customers without power in the Kentuckiana area. Fortunately, we still have power for the time being although it's blinked a couple of times and an ice covered tree is resting on our power line out front. Mom just lost her power. I believe they are going to call a state of emergency soon.

It Snowed, Sleeted and Rained Ice

Yuk! Woke up to a Winter Wonderland whether we wanted it or not! In addition to 3 inches of snow overnight we had a little sleet/ice thrown in for good measure. And now, there is freezing rain to boot. Expected ice totals overnight- up to 1 1/2 inches. And more snow tomorrow. Can it be spring yet?

I'm Assuming This is a Cat Thing

He's been doing this a lot lately. Whenever he hears it flush, zoom....in he comes to see what's what. I think it's the moving water maybe that has his attention.

Putting Away Christmas Presents

At our house, this means hanging shelves. In order to actually put away new Christmas presents, one must first dig through the rack and shelf stash in the basement, determine which ones might work and then recruit the husband to get out his power tools and hang the shelves! So that is how we spent Saturday afternoon. Due to lack of any other wall space in the kitchen, we decided to hang shelves in the one remaining spot...the window! Actually, we think it looks pretty cute and it got 4 new additions off the table in the front parlor and two off the floor of the guest room! YAY! Then we tackled the big shelf for the Santa Claus Land collection. It was a bear but Tim kept at it and that got a lot of little stuff off the table! You can almost see the whole table now!

During the week I tackled the big display in the den and revamped it. I like the end result. I now have an entire shelf devoted to vintage valentines and valentine themed collectibles and I merged the Thanksgiving and Rudolph together on another shelf. The rest of the little Christmas stuff including Santa Claus Land memorabilia got sent to the front parlor. I did leave two little soldiers in with Rudolph just because they looked cute together. I changed things around on the top of the big case a bit too, using risers and a new rack and just basically squishing things together a little more! Ha! It's growing on me. So, it's been a very productive few days around here. Which is a good thing as we have out of town company coming next week!

My Little Furry Helper

So the other night I was trying to list stuff on etsy and do stuff on the computer while listing stuff on etsy and Junior was being sociable and got on my lap. Then he decided that he would like to lean against my wrist pad thingy and halfway on my keyboard and let me tell ya, it's extremely hard to type with a cat that far onto the keyboard! And while he was busy helping me, Garden Kitty was snoozing on the sofa with her new friend Mr. Moose.

Flea Market Fun

New Year's Day was the annual Stewart's Flea Market, New Year's Spectacular at the Louisville Fairgrounds. We look forward to it every year and count the days till it arrives! We picked mom up and made our usual stop at Hardee's for biscuits (yummy!) and then headed on over. We got there before the crowds got too bad (and they got really bad!) I headed straight for the junk guy (where I got some absolutely fabulous vintage valentines) getting sidetracked at the Christmas booth pictured above and one other where I picked up a gift for mom. I stocked up on bottle caps for my etsy shop in another booth, found a few little things to put away for Tim for gifts, a vintage Mr. Potato Head box for my collection and some other goodies for etsy including some wonderful children's books and old catalogs! We almost closed the show down after putting in about 8 hours! Ran into a handful of friends, fellow collectors and dealers that we are chummy with!

After Christmas Sales

In my book that means sales! Half price or more! I rolled out of bed at the early hour of 5:45 am and got dressed. Mom decided to go with me after all. I think she was afraid she might miss out on something good!

We stopped by two Walgreens on the way to the mall and arrived at Hallmark by 7:20 am. Saw some familiar faces from last year's line up! Managed to score the ornaments I was looking for at half price. I only purchased one prior to Christmas and that was mainly because I had rewards coupons and I only had to spend $2 out of pocket!

Checked out Dillard's Christmas and mom found some ornaments she wanted. I got one small Annalee reindeer and a beautiful Christmas sweater for next season! Then we hit a couple of other stores so we could get a tree for mom half price. One of hers broke last year. Finally found one at Walnut Ridge 60% off and we had a coupon for another 10% off! Can't beat that!

Saturday night I found out that Walgreens had taken their Christmas down to 75% off! It was far too late and too dark to jump in the car and hit the 24 hour store. I couldn't wait for morning to come so I could go. I LOVE their wrapping paper and while I probably already had enough to last the next 5 years, I just couldn't pass it up for 50 cents a roll! Also found Walkers Shortbread for 87 cents and Hershey's kisses and M&Ms for 62 cents! Shopped not only for myself but also for my mom and aunt who put in their orders via phone! Picked up some beautiful Christmas cards for $1.74 and $1 respectively. A dove foil wrapped chocolate for my treat, yum! In fact, it was so tasty today that I decided I should get some more while they were only 24 cents each! And since my mom highly recommended the Hershey's Santa (which I'd put in her stocking, I mean Santa put in her stocking) I stocked up on them for 12 cents each! Bargain Bonanza!
